The words

I don't regret a word,
Just the ones not said
It's not about the stammering
It's about saying it anyway
Never regretting a day
When you've spoken your heart
I'm glad I said the words
and left them with you
They will always be with you
They will always be from me

Dreaming w/ you

Driving home,
trees, the SUVS
I am fading out
I am fading in
I am fading
Back into my dreams
You are a blur along the highway
You blur into my memory
I speed away from the summer
I drive into the snow
into the winter
Into your shadow
to the music
to the voice
To the sound in our hearts
We dance to the same beat
You brought back from then
From where the rain falls
Through the strange voices
That give the light to you
Through the colors and the night
I am there with you
Dreaming with you

Citadel

Hungry mouths
Open wide
Around the world
Lives hiding lives from lives
Cross the clean street
No garbage
Clean street
Pavement washed
Clean street citadel
No suffering
Death,
Illness,
Bankruptcy
Elevated from the world
In the sunny shining corridor
Time to clean
Time to save
Everything better
Turning from the ugly
Who helped build the citadel

Precipice

You've come to a point,
Like a precipice
On a skyscraper
In the wind
It's a long way down
And you're falling
Will you light a spark,
Ignite our souls?
You knew the day would come
When all our souls are on the run
You're climbing that tall building
In the rush our
faces pass
they don't even notice
you're a blur in millions
You win,
Wearing the crown
You toss it where you want

Hibernate

Come and gone
Spring to fall
Dreams wake up,
Go to sleep
Not leaving memory
When finally you touch me
And I float
Until I wake
On the other side of night
On the other side of the seasons
A blast of cold air,
Dreamless, dark hibernation

Forgive me:

There you were
Waiting all weekend
For a moment for us to be alone
There you were in the candle flame
Alive in the picture frame
Between the noise on the radio
Me, imperfect, human
Stilling my surroundings
To hear your heart beating
In your anger, is the flame
You wanted my heart
You wanted my mind
To listen to me listening to you
I have no excuses, the one who loses.

Green

Cool touch,
Grass, sweat, sun
Steel, iron, chemistry, industry
Naked under the soil
Swimming beneath the undulating hills
See thru concrete landscape
Square, predefined
We transcend
Square, predefined
Deny, recreate
Luscious, curvaceous
Human, feminine,
Luscious, curvaceous
Alive.

For Angel

When I look at her I see a sky, palm trees, the sun, and a thousand others
The flight that brings her to the dawn, with all her sisters and her brothers
Who follow the air, and wind and dusk and the changes of season rain to rain
And the beauty that defines her soul, her history and destiny again

I wish these bars be replaced by the trees of her nest, that her plucked wings soar through the air
That her home not be torn down by loggers, poor farmers and rich westerners who don?t care
For the simple farmer who knew no better than to destroy her home to feed his family for a day
For to rich white men, helpless third world countries come a dime a dozen then get thrown awaw

Her sweet pure nature defies the tragic story that her heart has told to me
Her forgiveness and grace lift her above the world where she is flying free
In my heart she is an Angel soaring above us all ? she?s free to roam
From island to island, world to world, she?s finally flying home

Mountain

Come, listen to this song
I want to show you something beautiful
Like the summit of a mountain
Come, I will climb it if you will

Do you know the way?
I would like to show you if I can
This is the way we climb
You just reach out and take my hand

When I was a child
We would go to the mountains in the spring
I would lie down in the flowers
Just to get a breath of everything

Life, is just a single moment
And all I need you to do
Is give me a moment
So I can share my life with you....

The Dirty River

By the dirty river, girls write poetry
On graffiti-covered stones.
Cigarette smoke rises in the air -
A signal that they won't be home.
They're looking out across the dirty water
Where it flows is some mystery
And there's no place they would rather be
Than the dirty river.

By the dirty river, all among the beer cans
And the tires on the ground
Is where the old folks stood and fell in love
And blessed this new world that they found.
They're looking out across the dirty water
Where it's gone is some mystery
And they're no place they would rather be
Than the dirty river.

By the dirty river, you're lost in the night
And I ache for you again
I hear you whisper though you're out of sight
That you'll be here when you can
And I can look across the dirty water
Deep into your mystery
And there's no place I would rather be
Than the dirty river.

Equilibrium

Through clouds of smoke, through city air,
Strangers and streetlights
I've come to find you there
Where I'm inspired by your sight
And the music that you play upon the night
I feel the ground move with your sound
Under my shoes
Then I lose
Equilibrium

You're a friend of a friend who brought you my way
Found you like a candle
On a cold winter day
I saw your fear of neon, your home in the street
I saw the plain routine you keep under your feet.
I felt the spell you keep working well.
Since that day
I threw away
Equilibrium

Now you're in demand like the latest news
And they're falling for you
Like papers at your shoes
Shouting "Catch the stars before they reach the sky"
"While they're wearing the clothes you know them by"
But you'll see I'm right where you found me
In this crowd, too smoky & too loud,
Strung along for another song,
Satisfied to be denied
Equilibrium.

Catfight

Autumn fever is in the sky above
October creatures nestle in the grove
She lies in waiting for some duration
She'll pounce at any provocation

Sitting at the bar with a whiskey
You tip the glass back till you can't see
You hardly notice she's in the room
You share a drink with someone new

The whistling wind howls along
To the sound of the turbulent song
They lash, they hiss and every time
They hold the shiver in your spine
In a straight line

The moon is just right for a catfight
And we've got nothing else to do
But watch them tangle in the moonlight
All night through
The sky is set up for a showdown
Onto the finish of the fight
You turn your back but they don't slow down
The keep looking to strike
Catfight

Footsteps In The Leaves

I've foraged honey, woven my shirts,
Slept with the stars, awakened with birds.
I can't surrender or comply.
I'm a slave to the trees and sky.
Just like the sun sets in the west,
Cleansed by labor, I will rest.
As I sleep and as I dream
It is the moon that comes to me
Who loves the squirrel and the fox
Who, peeking out from behind rocks
Tell my story where they reside.
Oh, is there a place to hide
From those footsteps in the leaves
Coming through the trees and briar
And faces that glow angrily,
Burning me like fire.

Tower of Ivory

From your tower of ivory
You've sent another message
Through the changing air.
Can you stop it from arriving
And can you stop the beating of your heart?
I remember what you said to me
Before you turned to walk away-
"Truth is all that matters" were your words
Before you wordlessly began to fade away.

Take a train into the city
To visit your old friends
And see how they have met their changes.
Do you wonder what you're going to do
When it is you
Who has to learn to live on your own?
Do you feel afraid? Do you feel at all?
Do you shiver when it's cold?
Do you just lie back and forget as you did before?

I have changed the lock upon the door
And left my memories burning
On the kitchen stove.
I won't be there on your front porch
I won't be anywhere
And you won't be coming home.

Without You

Hello remember me
I'm the one who stayed with you
Like a weary traveler
Crashing in your room
We talked all night
By the stereo
And in the morning
I had to go
Now everything I do is without you, without you

For all my appointments
I get there on time
I save my money
I count my dimes
I'm very organized
I go to work each day
Life is so short
When will you come back this way?
No matter what I do it's without you, without you

Hey did you know
That I can see you there
All the way from here
>From many miles away
Can you hear me call you
Can you see me in your thoughts
Though I call for your attention
I am never really lost
Cause nothing that I do is without you, without you, without you
